Gone Wild!

Well I just finally had to splurge on this beautiful item! I was hoping this would have been my 1000th item because it’s so special. It didn’t work out that way but I still consider this my present to myself for soon reaching 1000 items in my collection. 🙂

This French promo of “Give Me All Your Luvin'” / “Girl Gone Wild” is gorgeous. The picture holder is printed on beautiful, glossy cardstock. Also, to my knowledge, this is the only way to get the “Give Me All Your Luvin'” remixes on CD. These were limited to 500 pieces worldwide. Mine is # 228.

Expensive Taste

It’s tough being a Madonna fan. Actually, no, it’s expensive being a Madonna fan! This tour business is really racking up some big amounts for me with tickets, airfare and hotels. I may have to cut back a little on collecting for a while. I probably say this at least once a year, I’m not really sure that I actually go through with it! I always end up back at eBay. I’ll just try to not buy as many things as I usually would be. The good thing is that the Rebel Heart releases have all come and gone so I’m pretty much good with those. I have a few more items on the way, including the Rebel Heart European LP (thanks to my friend Stefan) so hopefully that will keep me satisfied…for a while!

Ranking The Album Tracks Part 4: Like A Prayer (1989)

madonna

I’ve said it before that Like A Prayer is, in my opinion, Madonna’s landmark 80’s album. It may not have been her best-selling album of the decade, but it was definitely her most personal, artistic, autobiographic and daring LP of the 1980’s. It pushed all kinds of buttons, especially with the launch of the controversial music video for the title track. Like A Prayer found Madonna exploring not only religious themes, but also subjects such as family, childhood, marriage/divorce, love and loss. If anyone ever doubts Madonna’s artistic abilities, they only need to listen to this album to be reassured. A true masterpiece. Here are my rankings:

International Orders

So a few days I ago I finally received my Russian Rebel Heart CD. Two months after the album was released! I was SO over waiting for it. By the time it arrived I was kinda “meh” about it. I think waiting is the hardest part about collecting (other than spending a lot of money), especially with international shipments. I don’t know that I’ll ever buy something from Russia again. Australia is another country that also seems to take a long time to receive packages from, at least 2 or 3 weeks. I guess maybe I’m just waaaay more impatient than I should be because I always want things now! I’ve been collecting for many years now and it does not get easier 🙂

Christmas In May

unnamed
Well the last 2 days were like Christmas as I brought in 9 new items! Yesterday I received the Canadian 2-track CD single of “Ray of Light”, which I love because the disc is a unique dark blue color. Also, I went to a record store and had a moment of weakness as I bought the “TellTales” interview CD from the ’90’s. OK, everyone knows I don’t buy bootlegs and I usually stay away from most unauthorized releases, but this one looked so pretty so I got it. It was super cheap anyway. Continue reading

Ranking The Album Tracks Part 3: True Blue (1986)

madonna1

True Blue was the first Madonna album that I heard in its entirety back in the 80’s. I remember secretly borrowing the cassette from my sister and listening to it. If any album was the soundtrack to my early childhood, this was it. By the time of its release, Madonna was a bonafide megastar; arguably already the most famous woman on the planet. The music was also starting to mature as she started to incorporate more topical themes and social messages into her songs. The album sold a TON and cemented Madonna’s legacy as the premiere international female pop star of the ’80’s. And now on to my rankings: Continue reading

Countdown To 1000

I’m currently at 975 items in my Madonna collection, with a few more items expected to arrive in the next couple of weeks. I’m almost at 1,000! I feel like that is such a big milestone. I know some people have upwards of 2,000 and more, I honestly can’t even imagine having that many. I am running out of shelf space as it is! But, you never know. I remember when my collection was in the 400’s and back then I’m sure picturing 1,000 items seemed like an impossibility. I wonder what my 1,000th item will be? I’ll have to make it something special!
