I didn’t bring in anything incredibly exciting or rare this month, just filled in some holes here and there with various miscellaneous items (including several USA promos). Probably my favorite item this month was “The Look Of Love” Japanese 7″ that I’ve waned for quite some time now. Anyway, here’s the full list of new items for May:

Vinyl Re-Issues

It looks like Warner Bros. and Rhino are re-issuing Madonna’s first two albums on vinyl in the USA. They are listed on Amazon.com for a June 21st release. I haven’t pre-ordered them because there aren’t many details about them yet, but I suspect they will be very similar if not almost exactly like the 2012 vinyl re-issues of Madonna’s albums that were released in Europe. I didn’t buy any of those except for the Erotica one because I didn’t have a copy of the original German 2-LP at that time. I still see the rest of them at my local record store as they were all imported to the USA (and pretty expensive). In fact, all of them are still widely available. Honestly, though, the quality of the artwork for those 2012 re-issues (not just the vinyl but the accompanying CD album box re-issues) was not very good. Some were better than others but overall the quality of the art was too dark and fuzzy.

Anyway, if there was something different about these upcoming re-issues, I would be a lot more interested. Imagine if they did a colored vinyl series? Or a picture disc series? That would be amazing! Most likely, though, it will just be a basic release. It’s also interesting to note that Warner/Rhino are also re-issuing most of Prince’s WB-era albums on vinyl over the next few months as well, which was planned even before his death. Those releases will be scattered all the way through December, I wonder of the rest of Madonna’s releases will follow throughout the year as well.

New Items Recap: April 2016

This month was exciting because of the Like A Virgin & Other Big Hits! Record Store Day pink 12″ vinyl release (which, as it turned out, is still pretty easy to get even 2 weeks later), but my favorite acquisition this month was the Spanish promo 7″ vinyl of “Pray For Spanish Eyes” from the Like A Prayer album which was not released as a commercial single in any country. This 7″ was the only promo pressing for this song. It had been on my want list for a really long time. I love these types of promo pressings for obscure tracks!
