The Immaculate Collection / Korean Double Cassette (WC-086) / Plastic Cases with Outer Slip Cover

As I talked about a few days ago, my favorite item this month was the Erotica DCC! Another cool item that arrived this month was The Immaculate Collection Korean double cassette. It’s unusual because most worldwide cassette releases for this album were single cassettes. This one comes with a unique outer slip cover that holds both tapes and an extra fold out lyric sheet. Record Store Day 2017

Well, as all of you know, yesterday was Record Store Day. For some reason, it wasn’t as exciting for me this year. I think it was because last year was the first RSD in which we got a Madonna release, which was the pink Like A Virgin & Other Big Hits 12″ vinyl reissue. We didn’t know how rare it was, or how difficult it would be to get. I showed up at my local store at 5am last year. Well, after all was said and done, that release was very easy to get after the fact. This year, I did not want to have to wait so long in line so I showed up at 8am and still got my copy of Dance Mix. It’s nice to have but this release didn’t excite me as much as it would have if it had been colored vinyl. I also still think it was an odd choice to re-issue this title. The hype sticker is mis-leading stating that it contains ‘rare’ dance mixes. None of these are rare. Anyway, let’s hope we get something really cool next year like colored vinyl or a picture disc!

Erotica DCC (Digital Compact Cassette)

For the last several years, this has been one of my most (if not the most) wanted items, and now, I finally have a copy! This is the German Erotica digital compact cassette. It’s so fucking cool! I am absolutely in LOVE with the little booklet. I love that it has the photos from the CD booklet but in the size of a cassette. If you’re not familiar with the format, DCC’s were a digital cassette that was introduced in the early 90’s. It was poised to be a successor to standard cassette tapes but that never happened. The format faded into obscurity shortly after its introduction. For Madonna, there were only 2 titles available, this one and The Immaculate Collection, which I also have. I am sooooo happy to finally have this one! I don’t have a DCC player so I can’t play it (I probably wouldn’t anyway even if I did because I wouldn’t want anything to happen to it), but I love collecting rare formats like this. If only there had been a Bedtime Stories version!

My favorite item this month was the “Dress You Up” UK Limited Edition 12″ Poster Sleeve, which I have wanted for so many years. It’s always so expensive, I finally had to just put up the money for it. Luckily, this copy looked pristine. I love it. It’s definitely my favorite poster sleeve. It’s so beautifully designed!
