My favorite arrival of the month was definitely the rare USA 3″ CD single of “Like A Prayer” in the longbox card sleeve. I’ve wanted this for many years, I can’t believe I finally got one! It’s very unique as it was the only release that came in this packaging (the 3″ CD single didn’t last very long in the USA as it wasn’t successful).
Another cool item that I found at a record store was a copy of the UK “Everybody” 7″ single which is super are, and I got it at a great price. This is definitely one that I never even dreamed of owning because I always thought I’d have to pay a lot of money for it. It comes in a not-so-exciting generic black sleeve but the great thing about it is that it contains the rare Rusty Egan 7″ mixes of the song.
I was also on a cassette kick last month (and into this month as I’m still doing some ebay browsing). I brought in some cool ones from Korea and Thailand.
The Korean ones are definitely unique in that they have some really cool printed paper labels. I’m in love with the Confessions On A Dance Floor one!
Looking ahead, you’re probably aware that Erotica and Music are going to be released on white and blue vinyl respectively later this month in Europe. I already have my copies preordered. What a treat to finally get Erotica on something other than black vinyl! I always imagined it would be blue, but white actually makes sense. The Immaculate Collection had another widespread USA release on black vinyl a few weeks ago (making the Barnes & Noble exclusive not so exclusive after all). I didn’t buy this latest one. I might get it if I see it at a store but it’s not high on my want list mainly because the only difference between it and the B&N version is the sticker on the front. Some other super exciting news that I was tipped off to yesterday is that Ray of Light is going to be released next month on clear vinyl to celebrate its 20th anniversary on Black Friday Record Store Day! It will apparently be limited to 7K copies. Definitely excited about that one as well!
