I haven’t posted that much on here lately, but I wanted to take a moment to mention the one-year anniversary of the Madame X album. Obviously, there are more important things going on in the world right now than collecting records and pop music, but the interesting thing about this album is that it is still relevant a year later, maybe even more than when it was originally released. It was a truly great album. Even though the charts and awards shows are laughable these days, as shallow as it sounds, I do wish it would have received more recognition from the industry and Madonna’s peers. I hope in the future, people will look back on it and appreciate that Madonna truly took a risk with it.
I originally reviewed and ranked the album upon its release, but after a year of listening to it and seeing Madonna perform most of the tracks on the Madame X tour, my rankings changed a bit:

The biggest climber here is “Come Alive”. Honestly, looking back at my original ranking, I can’t believe I previously ranked it at #10. The tour performance made such an impression on me. It was very powerful and moving. The biggest fall is for “Medellin”, not because I like it any less, but the other songs that climbed over it are just so strong.
