This I’m Breathless yellow vinyl re-issue has certainly had quite a journey to production so far. First, the rumors started several months ago that this was being released somewhere in Europe earlier in the year. Then that release was apparently cancelled and everyone forgot about it for a bit. In September, USA retailer Barnes & Noble listed an online pre-order for an exclusive yellow vinyl of the album to be released on November 22nd of this year. The pre-release presumably sold out quickly because the website then listed the vinyl as being “Temporarily Out Of Stock Online”. A few days later, the pre-order was back up again, but quickly sold out yet again. This time the listing read “Out Of Stock”. Period. Now in the last couple of days, the listing has been removed from the website entirely, though all the pre-orders that were placed are still active. I’ve never pre-ordered anything from Barnes & Noble before this, so I don’t know if its common for them to just remove listings once they sell out of a pre-order. They do host marketplace sellers on their site, so I’m not sure why they wouldn’t just keep it up for people who would want to re-sell it later. This whole thing is very strange and I’m just hoping that the release won’t be cancelled at this point. I’m even questioning whether or not the physical stores will get any copies on the release day if it still comes out. If they do, I’m thinking they will only get a small handful of copies each. If they don’t and all we had was the online pre-order, then this release could very well turn out to be a rare record. On the other hand, it’s not impossible (and actually very likely) that Europe will get their own pressing at some point, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
