Well, we had two surprising announcements this weekend. The first was that the official Madonna shop is releasing a 10th anniversary edition of the MDNA…cover sleeve. A special holographic/lenticular sleeve is being prepped so current owners of the now hard-to-find and expensive MDNA album can showcase their record with this special sleeve that shows both covers in a special effect. There are expected complaints from certain fans about there not being an accompanying repressing of the actual vinyl album. This is most likely due to WB not having the rights to release this album yet (and they won’t until 2025 according to Madonna’s latest legacy deal with them).
The second announcement was that the 14-track edition of the Rebel Heart Tour live album is being released this September on ‘purple galaxy swirl vinyl’. This one does appear to be a Universal release (under a subsidiary label called Mercury Records). This is pretty exciting! Not sure why they are bothering at this point, but who cares. September is just so far away! The limited edition double LP is available for preorder now on amazon.com.
