Just wanted to pop in and take a little time to talk about some of the new arrivals that I brought in these last few weeks. I’ve definitely been a busy collector lately!
The first one is the UK It’s That Girl promo cassette! Now, this item has been on my want list for as long as I can remember. It was definitely my most wanted cassette for many, many years. I had been especially keeping my eye out for one during the last year or so, so when one finally popped up on ebay, I jumped at the chance. Definitely one of the pricier items I’ve ever bought but definitely worth it. This one is really beautiful. The track list also makes it desirable because it features many of the UK 7″ single versions. It would have been really cool if there had been a promo CD counterpart! Anyway, super happy to finally have this one and it’s definitely one of my new favorite items in my Madonna collection.
Another recently-acquired item that I wanted to briefly talk about is the Australian “Another Suitcase In Another Hall” CD single. Australian CD singles in general are pretty rare, especially pre-2000, but there are certain ones that are almost impossible to find. Among them are “Dear Jessie”,“Justify My Love”, “Erotica”, “One More Chance”, and this one. I’ve read online that this Australian “Another Suitcase In Another Hall” CD is so rare because it was not only pressed in small numbers from the beginning, but apparently it was also withdrawn from stores after about a week or two. Not sure how true this is, but apparently this was done because it flopped on the Australian charts. Another rare version of this single is the Japanese CD release, which I still need to add to my collection eventually. So many items, so little time (and money)!
There was a time a few years ago when I thought I would never have the UK “Little Star” promo CD…let alone two copies of it! OK, look, I’m not usually the type of collector that buys a second copy of something just because it has a different sticker, but this time I had to. The price was right so I figured ‘why not’! I don’t regret it. This is one of the most beautiful Madonna promos out there with its metallic front picture insert and glittery CD graphics! Plus, the front shot has always been one of my all-time favorite Madonna pictures. Definitely a very special and much sought-after Madonna release! If you’re a collector and have an opportunity to get one of these, I definitely recommend that you do.
Speaking of UK promos, I also managed to get a copy of this gorgeous promo 12″ vinyl of “Hung Up” last month. I already had the “Get Together” ‘disco ball’ 12″ promo that is very similar to this one. That one is definitely a stunningly beautiful item. This one is very nice as well, especially the picture labels that show through the die-cut of the sleeve on the back. I didn’t post a picture of it here, but the front of this release is black with the silver-metallic ‘disco ball’ pattern, similar to the USA Confessions Remixed release. The UK definitely got it right with a lot of their promo releases! Too bad we don’t really get stuff like this anymore these days (from the UK or otherwise!). I really do miss the days of 12″ vinyl releases (and promos for that matter).
The last few items I wanted to briefly talk about are these super cool Mini Disc releases (The Immaculate Collection, Ray of Light and Music). These were the only 3 Madonna albums released on this short-lived format. The thing I really love about these is definitely the packaging. They come in custom-sized plastic cases (kind of a combination of cassette and CD jewel cases!) with their own stapled little booklets. Suuuuper cute. I never had and probably never will have a Mini Disc player but I absolutely had to have these in my collection.
That’s all for today, hope everyone has a great weekend!
