Rebel Heart Tour (Los Angeles, October 27, 2015)

Well, Madonna finally made it to my city of Los Angeles on Tuesday night. It seemed like forever that I had been waiting for this show! Judging from Madonna’s reaction, the crowd seemed overall better than the Arizona crowd was, but there were still some snobby, sour-faced buzz-kills seated in my area. I was 7th row from the main stage, close to the runway. I have to say that this area is great for the main stage action, but once Madonna heads out to the heart stage, you really can’t see much of her. She spends a lot of time at the heart during the middle of the show too. I much preferred my view in Arizona. Anyway, Madonna gave another great performance. It seems like she’s getting more and more talkative with each show. She even cracked a funny joke about the “3 Rings of Marriage”: the engagement ring, the wedding ring, and the suffering. That was pretty clever. As far as performances go, I have decided that the entire Latin section has grown to be my overall favorite (though my favorite singular moment is still “Deeper And Deeper”, which I can’t get enough of). I appreciate “Living For Love” and “La Isla Bonita” more with each viewing, and the “Dress You Up” medley is pure bliss. I finally got to hear her perform “Secret”, which was nice. However, as much as I love “Secret” I think it’s a bit too tame and not as iconic of a song for the crowd. “Like A Prayer” was the surprise song of the night and went over very well. She said it was a special song only for Los Angeles so we’ll see if she sings it again on this tour. No “Who’s That Girl”, unfortunately. She really needs to stop cutting out that song! As everyone already knows, Katy Perry was the “Unapologetic Bitch” of the night. I’m not really a fan so that wasn’t such a big deal for me. Overall, I have to say I had more fun in Arizona, but it was still a great show. I’m heading out to the San Diego show today, where I will be a few rows in front of the heart. I have a feeling this will be my best view yet!

“Over And Over” Italian 7″

There are certain items that I would never dream to ever own and this was one of them. “Over And Over” was released in Italy in both 7″ and 12″ vinyl versions and I managed to get a copy of the 7″! I am SO happy! As a kid, I would read about these super rare, mythical releases that I never thought I would be able to own, yet here I am with a copy of this beautiful release! Dreams do come true 😛

Rebel Heart Tour: Second Thoughts (Glendale, October 22, 2015)

On Thursday night I attended my second of six Rebel Heart shows in Glendale, Arizona. As opposed to my first show in Brooklyn, this time I was on the floor, mere seats away from the Queen and I have to say that my opinion of the show as a whole has changed. It’s even better than my first impression!  When I usually go to a Madonna concert, I’m always on the floor. I’ve even been lucky to be front row a few times. I had figured that being up in the seats for Brooklyn would give me a good view of the entire production. While it did, it just wasn’t as much fun as Thursday’s show! Madonna was completely engaged with the audience, chatting the night away in between songs. The crowd was a bit mild for her, though. She kept asking us to cheer louder for her! As a result, we did not get a bonus song after “Who’s That Girl”. It didn’t matter, though. We got 100% of Madonna’s showmanship! Continue reading

WEA Top Hits Japanese Promo LP

Screen Shot 2015-10-13 at 6.52.59 PM
I got this really cool promo LP in today. It’s a Japanese compilation that features Madonna’s “Open Your Heart” as track #2. I’m not usually a fan of various-artists compilation albums but this one I had to have because the front features a gorgeous cover art of Madonna. I love it! Some of the other artists featured are Boston, Sheila E., A-ha, The Pretenders, Stacey Q and more.
