As if the excitement of my Madame X shows in November wasn’t enough, it has now been confirmed that Madonna’s first four albums are being re-issued through Rhino on clear vinyl! Of course, there are the usual complaints from certain fans and collectors. The truth is, Like A Virgin and True Blue have both been re-issued a lot in recent years (all territories considered), and both have been available on clear vinyl in the past (True Blue back in 1986 in Hong Kong, and Like A Virgin as recently as 2017 in Europe).
I can see where some people are coming from about this getting repetitive, and I don’t blame them for not wanting to buy them. I’m still excited about these re-issues, though, especially since this is the first time the debut and Who’s That Girl will be available on a color other than black.
The second bit of news, and even more exciting, is that “I Rise” is apparently being released as a black 12″ vinyl for Record Store Day Black Friday in late November! I was floored when I read this. If true, this will be Madonna’s first 12″ maxi since Girl Gone Wild in 2012, which was released as a 12″ picture disc. I haven’t seen any official RSD lists yet so I’m praying this actually happens! It’s going to be so great so get a physical 12″ vinyl single after so many years. November will definitely be a major Madonna month for me. Can’t wait!
