Last month I stumbled upon quite possibly my biggest bargain since I’ve been collecting. I was browsing ebay one day, as I usually do, and came upon a sealed longbox edition of Madonna’s debut album that had literally just been posted. I snapped it up immediately. It was listed as a Buy It Now for $9.99 with free shipping. I couldn’t believe it. Pure dumb luck! I skimmed over the seller’s other listings and didn’t see any other Madonna longboxes. She did have other Madonna CD’s listed (Like A Virgin, True Blue, Like A Prayer) but the only pictures included were square stock images of the album covers. The seller did have longboxes of other artists pictured in other listings, so I had a hunch and messaged her. I asked her if she could show me actual pictures of the other 3 Madonna CD’s she had available. ALL LONGBOXES. All sealed. She had Like A Virgin and True Blue also for $9.99, and Like A Prayer was $12.99, all with free shipping. Unbelievable! Trying not to sound overly excited, I casually bought all 3 of them from her. I already had a copy of the Like A Prayer longbox CD, but the other 3 were all new to my collection. Longboxes are very rare and very expensive when the come up, and they are certainly very difficult to find sealed (especially the earlier albums). They can go anywhere from $150, $200 and beyond each when sealed. I still can’t believe it! It certainly pays to investigate listings and ask sellers questions. You never know what you will find!
